Casitas de Villa Corona, an apartment community for very
low-income seniors 62 and older, is currently under construction
in the heart of San Antonio’s West Side at 339 S.W. 39th Street.
The development will include 42 one-bedroom apartment homes.
Non-profit
Merced Housing Texas developed the community, which is
funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD), Bexar County, and the City of San Antonio.
HUD will subsidize a portion of the rents so that seniors will
not have to spend a burdensome amount of their income for
housing.
Construction is scheduled to be complete in December 2011.
Casitas de Villa Corona is owned by Casitas de Villa Corona,
Inc. St. Louis Design Alliance designed the property, and Galaxy
Builders, Ltd. is the general contractor. Engineering work and
surveying were provided by Vickrey and Associates.
